The following military and civilian associations provide a great number of services, programs and resources in locating jobs for veterans. Whether you are thinking about retiring or already have, there are a great number of resources available to the military community. Many of the associations dedicate their services to serving and supporting America's veterans and their communities, helping fund educational programs for veterans and their children, giving voice to multiple veteran causes around the Nation and providing employment counseling services to find jobs for ex military.

Whether you are a veteran looking for a career or a transitioning military member, beginning your job search and finding the right job can be an intimidating task. Using your military advantage means taking advantage of every professional opportunity the military offers to find jobs for ex veterans. Some of these advantages are affiliations unique to the military which can help in landing a civilian career. People who are well-connected though veteran organizations, associations and affiliations are more likely to hear about new jobs for veterans before other less connected people.

    The Marine Corps League was founded by Major General Commandant, John A. Lejeune, in 1923 and chartered by an Act of Congress on August 4, 1937. Its membership of nearly 56,000 is comprised of honorably discharged, active duty and Reserve Marines with 90 days of service or more, and retired Marines. It includes officer, enlisted, male and female members.

    The US Army Ranger Association works closely with the 75th Ranger Regiment and the Ranger Training Brigade in order to give meaningful support to the active duty Rangers. USARA cooperates with the Ranger Veteran associations of the Ranger Battalions of WWII, Merrill's Marauders, the Ranger Infantry Companies (Airborne) of the Korean War, the LRRP, LRP, Rangers, and Ranger Advisors of the Vietnam War, and other recognized Special Operations associations. USARA conducts national and regional events, with the Annual Ranger Muster being the highlight of the year.

Not that they were legal in the early days. History tells us that thirty three thousand women served in World War One and almost 500,000 took part in World War Two. During the Korean era 120,000 women were in uniform and seven thousand were deployed in theater during Viet Nam. During Desert Storm seven per cent of the total U.S. forces deployed were women - over forty thousand of them.     The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, mutual-help, war-time veterans organization. A community-service organization which now numbers nearly 3 million members -- men and women -- in nearly 15,000 American Legion Posts worldwide. These Posts are organized into 55 Departments -- one each for the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico, and the Philippines.

    Blinded Veterans Association

    Blinded Veterans Association - traces its roots back to the end of World War II. BVA's forefathers were a group of veterans blinded during that conflict. In 1945, they met at Avon Old Farms Army Convalescent Hospital in Avon, CT and founded the association. Thirteen years later, BVA received its charter from the United States Congress. Ever since, the Blinded Veterans Association has worked to accomplish the mission expressed in our Congressional Charter.
