Summary/Objective

This position is responsible for sourcing products and services for Park Lawn, creating a buying strategy that takes into account the company budget and necessary supplies and implementing this buying strategy within Park Lawn's corporate and field locations. This role will identify vendors and suppliers that meet company needs and negotiate agreements at the best price ensuring cost savings, quality improvement and operational efficiency.

Essential Functions

  • Meets with supervisors and department heads to understand supply needs across the company.
  • Prepares and reviews requests for proposals (RFPs) to make sure they are in line with company objectives.
  • Reviews and negotiates contracts with vendors and suppliers.
  • Research suppliers and vendors, finding supplies with certain certifications, accreditations, insurance and a steady stream of materials that fits within budget.
  • Maintains vendor relationships to ensure partners continue to meet company needs over time.
  • Implement buying strategies at both corporate and field locations, in both Canada and the United States.
  • Collect and analyze spend data and identify opportunities for cost reduction and optimization, including working with finance and accounting to track expenses, budget variances and the results of cost-saving initiatives.
  • Participates as needed in special department projects.
  • Collaborates with accounts payable to ensure efficient and accurate billing and payment processes.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes and procedures to implement best practices in procurement including the use of technology and automation where possible.

    Required Education, Experience, Certifications and Licensure

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of previous experience in purchase or supply management.
    • Valid state issued driver's license in good standing and acceptable driving record.

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications

    • Able to read, write and speak English fluently. Bilingual is a plus.
    • Attend and perform work in a professional and courteous manner in accordance with the employer's requirements.
    • Strong research skills, analytical skills and ability to negotiate contracts.
    • High degree of overall computer proficiency.
    • Proficiency in inventory and RFP management software.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) preferred.
    • Maintains a positive attitude and working environment through organization and communication.
    • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple projects, prioritizes tasks, and exercise good judgment.
    • Attention to detail and follow-through.
